Clyde and See See go to PetSmart

Continued socialization is so important! So hard to get good video though. During this trip we met a multi-generational family, and both puppies got lots of attention and petting by all.

I love this PetSmart near Virginia Center Commons because staff and management are so friendly. There are other dogs on leashes and people who have pets in the store, so it’s a perfect environment for socializing and learning good manners.

This video is rather boring! But look at what they are NOT doing. They are not pulling wildly on the leash, barking, or being otherwise disruptive. Just being calm and walking through the store.

Well-loved puppies

Here are some pics and a video from Jane’s last litter, born one year ago on 2/6/2021. I posted birthday pics of Clyde and See See on their birthday. Thank you to everyone who sent pics! I love that they all get along with other dogs in the household and are members of the families who chose them. They are all well taken care of and loved. I could not be happier that they are all so well loved this Valentines Day.

Clyde at dog class

Clydesdale Out of Sight 1yr old male GSD

Thank you Michael for shooting this great pic and your efforts with video. I could not get the Clyde videos to load! It’s such a small room that it’s hard to gait a German Shepherd and make it look as good as Michael did. I did want to post it, because he looks so relaxed and happy, which is half the battle. Clyde does look great in this still shot.

The Virginia Kennel Club has these handling classes in Goochland County on Wednesdays. Thank you Barbara, for getting us a location for classes! Their website is https://thevirginiakennelclub.com/ for more info.

Birthdays are coming up!

One year ago on February 6th, 11 puppies were born… I kept Clyde and See See. The other 9 are out there in loving homes. Some I hear from more often than others.

If you have one of Jane’s puppies from her litter born February 6, 2021, please send a pic I can post for all to enjoy on their birthday. I sure would like to have pics of all of them!

How does she squinch up like that?

Johnny retrieving his ball

Johnny, Jane’s brother, loves to retrieve. Today was not as cold, a good day for the dogs to get exercise.

You can see in this video that he is persistent, and he has a complete natural retrieve. The very first time I threw a ball for Johnny when he was a baby, he brought it back and dropped it in my hand.

Fun fact: A complete natural retrieving instinct is the highest correlating characteristic for successful guide dog training.

Johnny is an 8 year old AKC Champion GSD. He is a littermate to Jane, dam of Shepherd Sight’s most recent litter. He is DM clear, with OFA Good hips and clear elbows. He is available for stud service. High quality frozen semen is available.

I have not bred Johnny because my females have been too closely related to Johnny for breeding, and I don’t have room for another breeding female. But someday I will, which is why I had his semen stored, as is his sire’s.

If you are interested in a Johnny breeding with your own female or a future Shepherd Sight breeding, please contact me at morganshep@aol.com

Dog class

When I tell my friends and family that I’m going to dog class they often ask me if I’m learning how to be a dog. Haha. What really happens is that the dogs are learning how to behave at a dog show. It’s not an obedience class, and I’m not learning how to train. It’s just a place where the dogs learn what a dog show is like and how to hold still for a judge who is going to run their hands over them. They learn how to relax and take it all in and not be so nervous in a new place around a bunch of other dogs. Dog class mimics what a real dog show is like, just on a smaller scale. Here is a video of me with See See at dog class this evening in Goochland County. The camera angle isn’t great, which couldn’t be helped. Also, the room is very small and the floor has no mats to get good footing. But you can see that she is relaxed and holding still for the class instructor who is pretending to be a judge. You can tell a little bit about her movement and see that she has a nice gate and structure. You can also see that she’s young and still has a ways to go to develop fully.

Me and See See at dog class

I had a litter of puppies out of Nellie in October, 2013. Johnny and Jane’s sister went to a family in Canton, Ohio eight years ago today. They named her Maggie. Here are pics of Maggie when she was first adopted and now. They already had a male Shepherd and he is over 10 years old in these pictures. I’m told that Maggie likes to retrieve apples and then eat them! She runs a lot and stays in shape. She loves the snow. She looks so much like Jane I can hardly tell them apart! I’m always glad to hear from people who have gotten my puppies. Dawn and her husband take wonderful care of her and their other dogs! Thank you for the great pics, Dawn!
